Victorian MP goes viral over Simmons rant

Simmons was overlooked for selection in the initial All Star squad despite receiving the third-most votes for any guard in the league, and even when injury saw three more players pull out, the Aussie was still overlooked for selection.

Ahead of the announcement, Simmons' Philadelphia 76ers teammate Embiid urged the National Basketball Association not to err by leaving the Australian out again.

His speech (viewable below) attracted major media attention in the United States, with ESPN's hugely popular Sportscenter program labelling it an "epic rant".

Australian centre Andrew Bogut also shared his surprise, tweeting: "Wow, Ben Simmons can't get any love".

"He's already an National Basketball Association superstar, breaking first-year records held by greats of the game like Magic Johnson and Oscar Robertson".

Ben Simmons continues to be disappointed about his All-Star Game snub.

Akshay Kumar PadMan Movie Second/2nd Day Collections Worldwide Income Report
PadMan , starring Akshay Kumar and Sonam Kapoor in the lead roles, has garnered more than Rs 23 crore in first two days. However, the film which centres around menstruation and hygiene has been banned from being released in Pakistan.

"I paid particular tribute to South-Sudanese Australians Thon Maker and Mangok Mathiang who have not only reached the pinnacle of their profession, but did so after overcoming the challenges of arriving in Australia as refugees", Watts said.

"The response has been massive ... hopefully the NBA Commissioner gets the message!"

Simmons has enjoyed an outstanding season.

According to Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer, Simmons said the following after Charlotte Hornets guard Kemba Walker was named Porzingis' replacement: "I don't really know what an All-Star is anymore".

He is averaging 16.6 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 7.2 assists per game.

"The fact that compatriot Jingling Joe Ingles has also been left out of the three-point competition, despite now sitting third in the league in three-point percentage, makes me think there's some kind of anti-Australian conspiracy going on at the league head office at the moment", he said.
