Hundreds take the Polar Plunge in Lexington

Many people willingly took a dip in the frigid Deschutes River Saturday morning to support Special Olympics Oregon. Over the years, the plunge has raised as much as $35,000, Scotts Bluff County Sheriff Mark Overman said.

"The Special Olympics Summer Games wouldn't happen without us doing this fundraiser", Dowell said.

"We encourage teams, costumes and silliness", Overman said.

The Plunge is made possible through the support of various sponsors.

Junior lacrosse player Jess Lyons commented on the collective passion that all of Catholic Athletics shows for events like the plunge.
