Father Of Otto Warmbier Says North Korea 'Not Really' Participating In Olympics

North Korea has made clear that it does not intend to negotiate away its nuclear and missile programs in return for relief from global sanctions.

International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach will visit North Korea after the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, Reuters news agency reported Monday. During the talk with Moon, Kim Yo Jong verbally delivered the personal invitation from her brother - Kim Jong Un - who said he wants to meet Moon "in the near future" and would like for Moon to visit Pyongyang "at his earliest convenience".

Saturday saw Pence - who took great pains to avoid contact with the North Korean delegation while in the South - insist that there was "no daylight" between Seoul and Washington on DPRK policy.

"It is inconceivable that Moon would visit North Korea when Pyongyang has shown no signs of specific action toward denuclearization", said a high-ranking Japanese Foreign Ministry official.

North Korea conducted its largest nuclear test previous year and said it had developed a missile capable of carrying a warhead to the United States.

Pence told the Post he received assurances from Moon that South Korea wouldn't offer economic or diplomatic benefits to Kim for just talking, "only for taking concrete steps toward denuclearization".

And Pence repeated that USA policy remains that North Korea must give up its nuclear arsenal and stop trying to build ballistic missiles.

North Korea's delegation to the games will conclude its visit later on Sunday, having appeared to thaw the rift with the South, but there is scepticism about how honest Pyongyang is about improving relations.

Snapchat captures younger users from Facebook
On the other hand, Snapchat will be used by 43% of these younger users, more than double the rate of three years ago. Facebook is losing young users at a faster pace than expected, according to the latest report from eMarketer.

North Korean officials watched the game with Moon and state radio hailed a visit by Kim Yo-jong, Kim Jong-un's sister, as "an important occasion in improving relations", saying it provided "an environment for peace on the Korean peninsula".

But US has distanced itself from the North Korean overtures.

Peace has been the headline from the Winter Olympics however, as Kim's little sister Kim Yo-jong launched "charm offensive" in South Korea. "Moon should be aware that he has to urge denuclearisation to North Korea by himself, not depending on dialogue between the USA and North Korea".

The United States is prepared to talk to North Korea without preconditions, U.S. Vice President Mike Pence said in comments published on Sunday evening.

U.S. Vice President Mike Pence on Saturday said the United States, South Korea and Japan were in complete agreement on isolating North Korea over its nuclear weapons program, even as the two Koreas deepened their diplomatic detente at the Winter Olympics.

Moon has not yet accepted the invitation from Kim Yo Jong, although he has said before he'd be willing to visit if it would help end the North's pursuit of nuclear weapons and its decades of hostility and threats against the South.

They met and lunched with South Korean President Moon Jae-in on the second day at the presidential complex.

North Korea held a scaled-down military parade Thursday to mark the 70th anniversary of its armed forces' foundation, on the eve of the PyeongChang Games.
