ABC News Former NFL quarterback Johnny Manziel opens up about his career and his hopeful comeback in an interview with ABC News T.J. Holmes

The 25-year-old quarterback announced on Wednesday morning that he accepted an invitation to compete in the Spring League as he continues his pursuit of an NFL comeback.

The Spring League, which begins on April 7, featured some former NFL players last season. Coming from someone who's seen firsthand the way addiction can tear families apart, I can tell you unequivocally it'll take a lot more from Manziel than merely a successful two-week stint in some developmental league to prove he is a changed person. Manziel's failures and struggles should be watched closely by any soon-to-be-rookie in the NFL. "The way my wires are in my head and the way that I'm built and my makeup is completely different than Baker".

As far as his comeback goes, Manziel "100%" hopes to get back to the National Football League, but he admits, "I am coming back from a huge downfall". The fascinating thing to see would be how many years of success in Canada (and practically by definition, how many years of sobriety) it would take for the National Football League to give Manziel another shot. I'd like to thank Brian Woods and The Spring League staff for this opportunity to play the game I love. He recently said that he is now sober and is taking medication for bipolar disorder, with which he was diagnosed about a year ago. I'll be joining @TheSpringLeague in Austin to get #ComebackSZN started! The Spring League wraps up in mid-April however, which would give Manziel a month before CFL training camps open. Where did that get me?

He was the commander of the 18th district on the Near North side, which includes some prominent neighborhoods, WLS reported. Johnson choked back tears as he spoke to reporters outside Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where Bauer was pronounced dead.

A former NFL first round draft pick of the Cleveland Browns in 2014, Manziel has been out of professional football for two years following his release from Cleveland for off-the-field issues.

Manziel received an offer to play in the Canadian Football League with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, but sides did not agree on a contract. I'll do everything it takes to win.

"I think he's going to be a really good player, and if anything, people can compare him to me, but he can learn from what I did wrong", Manziel said this week on a Barstool Sports podcast.
