In an effort to move beyond what interim Michigan State University President John Engler called the "cancer" that was Larry Nassar, the university on Wednesday announced a reorganization of its medical schools and clinics in an effort to improve patient care and safety.
"Our society has systematically failed to listen to and believe victims without also assigning shame, blame or invalidation", she says.
On Tuesday, ex-Gov. James Blanchard, whose law firm has been hired by interim MSU President John Engler to lobby in Washington, D.C. and help deal with a variety of congressional inquiries, weighed in on that raise the board offered. Engler replaced Lou Anna Simon as Michigan State's leader two weeks ago.
In an email to the MSU community on Tuesday, Engler touched on what's being done to investigate sexual assault on campus in the wake of the massive Larry Nassar abuse case - also specifically referencing the ESPN claims. That has been a burden that must be lifted.

Asked respond to Engler's comments, ESPN said - in an email sent to 97.1 The Ticket - "We stand by our reporting".
According to MLive, Tom Izzo agreed with Engler, saying, "I only saw a little bit of it, but the part I saw, I agreed with what he said".
Dantonio denied allegations of mishandling any sexual assault cases in a previously unscheduled news conference held hours after the Outside the Lines report was published. We'll see what goes from there when I get home and get a chance to read it all and get a chance to talk to him.
