Team USA Starts Olympic Men's Hockey Tournament With Overtime Loss To Slovenia

While the US chose to go with a mostly experienced squad, four skaters now playing college hockey made the team: F Troy Terry (currently playing for defending NCAA champ Denver), F Jordan Greenway (Boston University), D Will Borgen (St. Cloud State) and F Ryan Donato (Harvard). Team USA had to kill off a two-minute penalty with less than 10 minutes left.

The Olympic Games have followed the same pattern since women's hockey made its debut at the 1998 Games in Nagano.

The National Hockey League (NHL) has decided not to send its professional players to compete at these Winter Olympics, which dealt a major blow to the United States team, but Granato believes that his team has what it takes to be a champion at PyeongChang.
