With Cristiano Ronaldo on one side and Neymar on the other, today's heavyweight Champions League showdown between Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain sees two of the game's biggest stars collide.

According to the Daily Mail, Neymar also had three swallows tattooed behind his left ear to symbolise "honour, respect, courage, freedom, dignity and trust".

"It's the ideal timing for this game because we want to continue to grow and this is a chance to show it", PSG coach Unai Emery said on Tuesday.

But Neymar can nearly do and say what he wants, as long as his performances on the field satisfy PSG's Qatari owners after they invested a world-record €222m to sign him.

However, Zinedine Zidane's team will certainly not be easy opponents for Neymar and co.

The Prime Minister didn't mention why but we think it probably has something to do with the fact that he played for Barcelona, which is one of Real Madrid's biggest rival.

"Well, he has more experience than me and I'm sure he'll know how to get out of this situation", he told Marca when asked about Ronaldo's relative struggles.

The Champions League recommences on Tuesday and Wednesday night.

In France, persistent speculation about a potential Real bid to sign Neymar - possibly as early as 2018 - has been seen as an attempt to unsettle PSG ahead of this tie.

"We have lots of great players, but our leader on the pitch is Neymar", said PSG coach Unai Emery.

Defeat to Real Madrid could spell drastic change at the club, not only for the coach but for the likes of Neymar too, who would seemingly be upset if his side were to exit the competition this early. There are maybe four or five teams who will pay whatever they need to pay to get the player. We don't have any in the sense we're happy to be able to play these games. "I'm not thinking about my future, I am only thinking about tomorrow's game", Zidane said.

PSG will have to contend with an atmosphere in the Santiago Bernabeu that Real Madrid has been trying to build for several days, but their firepower gives them every chance of an away goal to take into the return leg in three weeks.

PSG travelled without veteran midfielder Thiago Motta, meaning recent signing Lassana Diarra is tipped to start against his old club. We are going to try and put in a good shift, and do our job well.

And if he goes up against Hakimi, who has made just 13 senior appearances for Los Blancos, Neymar will be confident of making an impression against the club he has been tipped to join in the next 18 months.
