Rain and spring-like temperatures expected in Toronto this week

Latest indication suggest close to 25 mm of rain may fall by Tuesday morning, meeting Environment Canada's criterion for rainfall warning when the ground is frozen.

A special weather statement was issued for Toronto, York, Peel, Halton and Durham on Monday. If visibility is reduced while driving, the MTO advises drivers to turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance.

Two lanes of traffic at Eglinton Avenue West and Rosemount Avenue have also been closed due to flooding of nearby Massey Creek.

Another round of rainfall is expected throughout today and overnight in Wednesday. But since mild temperatures are rapidly melting snow, the addition of rain is expected to cause water ponds to form in poorly drained areas. Additional rainfall amounts of 20 to 30 millimetres are likely.
