Vonn's Olympic downhill farewell is a lovely shade of bronze

Lindsey Vonn will be favourite along with teammate Mikaela Shiffrin in the combined event.

"Today I won a bronze medal that felt like gold". Ragnhild Mowinckel of Norway took silver with a time of 1:39.31.

There will also be a team Alpine skiing event at the 2018 Winter Olympics which features teams consisting of two men and two women, racing against each other on parallel slalom courses. "Love you all", she wrote. Don Kildow died November 1 at age 88.

With a showstopping slalom run, Mikaela Shiffrin won her second medal of the Games on Day 13. "I wanted to win so much because of him, but I still think I made him proud". I tried to stay on the flawless line.

"My mind is still telling me I can do things that my body is telling me I can't". I struggled to keep the emotions together. "But I have this sort of feeling like, 'Ah!' I want to put out a run that I know, like, I can be really proud of".

Kildow was stationed in South Korea for two years during the Korean War.

The AP also reports that NBC's PyeongChang coverage is "on the brink of a historic accomplishment: These games will mark the first time female athletes have been featured more than men on a USA network's prime-time Olympic coverage". It was a 150-foot hill in a cow pasture.

She has mentioned this is possibly the last Olympic event of her career.

"I gave it my best shot". "I tried so hard and I worked my butt off". "I hope tomorrow I can maybe pull something out of the hat".

The last women's super-G champ who skipped the downhill at the same Winter Games was Diann Roffe of the 1994. "I couldn't have done it much better than this, this was my best downhill ever". "Of course, I'd have loved a gold medal but, honestly, this is incredible and I'm so proud". It was a big comeback for the racer, who throughout the years has suffered multiple injuries in 2012 and 2013 and didn't compete at the Sochi Games four years ago.

"It's so rewarding. Of course I would have liked a gold medal but this is wonderful and I am so proud", she told NBC after competing in Alpine skiing on Wednesday. "I'm proud to come away with a medal".

Shiffrin played it safe in her downhill run but answered with a brilliant performance in her preferred slalom to add a silver to her unexpected gold in giant slalom in her final race of the Games.

No matter what happens, Vonn has said she would like to win six more titles to beat the current record of 86, held by Swedish skier Jan Ingemar Stenmark.

Shiffrin jumped from sixth to first with her combined time of 2 minutes, 21.87 seconds (40.52 in slalom) but Michelle Gisin of Switzerland quickly bested her time with a combined time of 2:20.90.
