"The secretary is expected to hold a press conference at the Presidential Villa on Tuesday by 11.45am".

"Tillerson's travel plans have changed so that he can return to Washington early on Tuesday morning instead of late that night, a spokesman for the top USA diplomat told reporters traveling with him", the report said, citing the need for Tillerson "to deal with urgent work", back home.

Tillerson, making his first trip to Africa as the senior-most U.S. diplomat, has visited Ethiopia, Djibouti and Kenya since last Wednesday.

A report on Chad's progress was being prepared in Washington and would be reviewed by President Trump next month, Tillerson said.

The trip overall has been aimed at something similar - assure partners that the Trump administration remains committed to its relationships with African nations, while crises elsewhere - North Korea, the fight against Islamic State - dominate headlines.

Tillerson's week-long, five-country visit to Africa has come amid other urgent foreign policy developments, including Thursday's announcement that US President Donald Trump will meet North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
