ST. LOUIS MO- NOVEMBER 3 Jason Mc Courty #30 of the Tennessee Titans celebrates after breaking up a pass intended for Chris Givens #13 of the St. Louis Rams in the second quarter at the Edward Jones Dome

Cleveland Browns release CB Jason McCourty, 9 others

Reunited and it feels so good. Safety Devin McCourty has resided in New England since 2010, when the Patriots picked him in the first round. It's not a tremendous move, but it's better than getting nothing for him at all. Butler recently signed a five-year, $61 million contract with the Tennessee Titans. He had been reportedly been interested in teaming up with Jason in New England.

Jason will make a nice addition to the Patriots defense, which was largely lacking up until the mid-point of past year. In his time there, he would rack up 54 tackles and 3 interceptions. Thank you to the Haslam's and the organization for giving me the opportunity to lead and do what I love last season!

It previously was reported that the Browns had released McCourty - Jason even posted a farewell to Cleveland on Twitter - but the team didn't make his release official, and it appears the Browns are getting compensation in return. McCourty joins Stephon Gilmore, Eric Rowe, Jonathan Jones and Cyrus Jones atop the depth chart.

Carrie, who started 15 games for the Oakland Raiders last season, is expected to take over as the starting cornerback for the Browns, according to Cleveland.com.
