The photo, released Monday to mark the start of principal photography, shows Zellweger dressed in a floral embellished gown and a microphone in her hand.
Also starring in the film are Jessie Buckley, Finn Wittrock, and Michael Gambon. Producer is David Livingstone (Pride) for Calamity Films. The movie is set in the late 1960s as Garland arrives in the British capital for a run of sell-out concerts.
Rupert Goold ("True Story") is set to direct. By this point, Garland is well into her 40s and her memorable turn in The Wizard of Oz is almost thirty years behind her.
Zellweger will portray Garland the year before her untimely death as she clashes with management, regales fans with her stories, and courts her soon-to-be fifth husband, Mickey Deans.

And yet Judy is fragile.
After more than 40 years in show business, the legendary star is "exhausted; haunted by memories of a childhood lost to Hollywood and gripped by a desire to be back home with her kids", the synopsis says. Judy is a Pathe, BBC Films and Ingenious Media presentation of a Calamity Films Production. Will she have the strength to go on? She can also sing, as evidenced by her turn in the Best Picture victor Chicago, and Judy is poised to feature a number of songs including "Over the Rainbow".
Laurence Myers, Lee Dean, Aaron Levene, Charles Diamond, Ellis Goodman and Hilary Williams will also receive exec producer credits. Pathé will distribute the film in UK, France and Switzerland and handles sales in the rest of the world.
