The Roots' SXSW Concert Cancelled Due to 'Security Concern'

A major South by Southwest show was canceled Sunday night just before it was supposed to start at 8 p.m., said fans who were turned away at the venue's door with guards telling them it was canceled for security reasons.

Event organizers had to call off the Roots' schedule set at the Austin Fair Market on Saturday night.

Black Thought, Questlove, and their group-mates had announced "The Roots & Friends" at Austin, Texas' Fair Market.

The Roots' scheduled concert at SXSW was canceled on Saturday due to a bomb threat in the Austin area.

Bud Light, the show's main sponsor, and SXSW both confirmed the cancellation on Twitter. "We are truly sorry to have to cancel the event, but we felt it was necessary to take all safety precautions", Bud Light said in a statement. "Your safety and the safety of all fans at SXSW is our most important priority".

Last week, Austin police responded to at least 370 calls reporting suspicious packages but found nothing unsafe in the wake of three package bombs that killed two people and wounded two others. Three package explosions have occurred in a 10-day span that began on March 2.
