Two months after Vince McMahon announced he was going to start the XFL again in 2020, Charlie Ebersol, the son of McMahon's former XFL partner Dick Ebersol, said he was going to create the American Alliance of Football, ESPN.com reported.
"The eight teams in cities that will be announced in the next three months will start by having regional drafts, protecting eligible players who played in the local community for their college days", writes Rovell. Other differences will include no kickoffs and instead of onside kicks, the trailing team will receive the ball on their own 35-yard line facing fourth down and 10. The league's debut and championship game will both appear on CBS, according to a CBS Sports report, and CBS Sports Network will also air one regular season game a week. The other games will be available via the league's app. "Our investors here understand that it's a 7-10-year plan".
"The Alliance of American Football represents a fundamental shift in the way we approach professional sports", Charlie Ebersol said. The XFL played its only season in 2001 and was a partnership between McMahon and Ebersol's father, Dick Ebersol, who was the head of NBC Sports at the time. The league's founders plan to start playing the week after the Super Bowl in 2019.
A new football league will be joining the ranks of the NFL and the soon-to-be resurrected XFL.

It was important for certain kind of people to associate with it, who would create an atmosphere like this on sets. The first look poster and a teaser of the film are already out and have generated enormous buzz among the fans.
The AAF will grant player bonuses based on performance and fan interaction, something in which league officials said they had invested heavily.
Powell's POV: If Charlie Ebersol's name seems familiar it's because he made the ESPN documentary on the XFL. "We're looking for those Kurt Warners working in grocery stores and we think we will find them". To differentiate the Alliance of American Football from its competitors, there will be no TV timeouts and 60 percent fewer commercials. "We have to be able to take advantage of the people who just stop playing fantasy when the National Football League season ends". A couple interesting changes designed with fan interest in mind are two-point conversions replacing extra points and a sped up play clock compared to the NFL's usual 40 seconds.
The Alliance of American Football, or the AAF, is an "eight-team, single-entity structured league driven by high-quality professional football". The AAF will debut on February 9, 2019, the week after Super Bowl LIII, and run 10 weeks before its championship game, which will be televised on CBS. Though if that would happen, it would be huge and could already be a knockout punch to the XFL before they even get off the ground.
