UK Red Arrows Aerobatic Team Plane Crashes In Wales

The Red Arrows jet crashed in the early afternoon at RAF Valley in Anglesey north Wales

A Red Arrows jet has crashed in an incident at RAF Valley, North Wales, Britain's Ministry of Defence has announced.

Eyewitnesses had reported that only one person had ejected from the jet before it crashed and burst into flames.

"The serviceman's family have been informed and have asked for a period of grace before further details are released".

"The pilot survived the incident and is now receiving medical care".

The incident occurred this afternoon at RAF Valley in Holyhead, Anglesey, the Ministry of Defence has confirmed.

Caterer Anne Wilson, who works at The Anglesey Golf Club, situated at the end of the runway at RAF Valley, witnessed the aftermath of the crash. An air ambulance was en route to the scene at around 13.30.

RAF Valley is used to train United Kingdom fighter pilots and aircrew for mountain and maritime operations.

"We are used to the planes going over but this was unusual, it was different to what we normally hear around here".
