She has already received cheers from Cattrall and Kristin Davis, 53, who played Samantha and Charlotte, respectively, on the hit show. Plus, her star power will only give her a wider appeal.

After months of speculation and teasing, former Sex and the City star Cynthia Nixon officially announced her campaign for NY governor against Democratic incumbent Andrew Cuomo.

Actor Cynthia Nixon has delivered a sharp response after being called an "unqualified lesbian" by a supporter of Democratic New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo. In her campaign video shared on YouTube and Twitter, the Emmy-winning actress talked about why she considers NY as her home. Our government, particularly in NY state, is so owned by the real estate lobby.

Cuomo is a prodigious political fundraiser, racking up a $30 million campaign war chest as of January. Instead he relies on deep-pocketed supporters, many with various interests before the state. You know, the thing I said last night that the top one percent of New Yorkers earn 45 times what the other 99 percent earn combined.

So what's Nixon have to say about it all? Nixon raised more funds in one day than Cuomo has in the past seven years. "She issued a final message to current NYC mayor Bill de Blasio and Nixon, 'Help us figure out how to get the mold out of the projects". (A Siena College poll this week showed Cuomo leading with 66% to her 19%.) "She has to have some powder keg of dynamite to dislodge the governor", Sheinkopf said. "He let the Republicans gerrymander their own districts to suppress Democratic voters, especially voters of color".

Ricciardo hit with grid penalty
In the lead up to the Melbourne Grand Prix, Ricciardo has been plagued with questions surrounding contract renegotiations. The penalty is a heavy blow to both Ricciardo and Red Bull, who have pushed Mercedes close in practice at Albert Park .

Her choice of words, however, is what made the headlines.

Kim Cattrall has thrown her support behind her Sex And The City co-star Cynthia Nixon.

"Now she wants an unqualified lesbian to be the governor of NY". Quinn was quoted saying "Being an actress and celebrity doesn't make you qualified for public office".

Both Quinn and Nixon are openly gay. The item description reads, "If Miranda is an unqualified lesbian, then I guess I am too". "I just want to say tonight that she was technically right", Nixon said. "That I don't have my certificate from the Department of Lesbian Affairs, but in my defense there is a lot of paperwork involved".
