On Android, the company has improved the "Change Number" feature this time to let you choose if want to notify everyone about your new number or select users. It extends the original Change Number feature that allowed users to migrate their account information, groups, and settings. The update is now available for WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.18.97, with iOS and Windows to follow soon. To try it out, you'll have to head into WhatsApp Settings Account Change Number. Do note that all that all groups that the user is a part of will be notified regardless. You will be able to choose specific contacts to notify, and the chat history will be moved in the new chat on the recipients' phone. To proceed, tap on the Next button at the top right corner of your screen. A smartphone app called Chatwatch has been found with capabilities to let others snoop on your WhatsApp availability and whether you have read the texts, even if you have turned off the read scripts and last seen status.
The feature is now in beta stage though, and that's why it is available only for Android users. Folks at the publication who got their hands on the app discovered that it was possible to find out if a WhatsApp user is online or not simply by initiating a conversation with them, where no messages need to be exchanged for this to work.
Once the button is toggled on, you get three options - All contacts, Contacts I have chats with, and Custom.
United Nations secretary general calls for an independent investigation into Gaza clashes
Violent clashes left 16 people dead and more than 750 wounded after Palestinian protesters marched to Gaza's border on Friday. Israeli troops used tear gas and live fire to force back Palestinians who approached the heavily fortified border fence.
Once the migration process is done, all the user's shared messages in the old chat will be shown in the new chat.
The new service leverages India's government-backed cross-bank Unified Payments Interface (UPI), which lets users send and receive money via smartphone, and could expand use cases for WhatsApp payments. As the name suggests, this feature enables users to add up to 500 characters' description for any group.
