Amazon announced today that it has completed its purchase of video doorbell and security camera maker Ring. Additionally, the first interaction of the Ring doorbell is also £89 in the United Kingdom as a part of this price cut.
Ring founder and chief executive Jamie Siminoff, who will stay in place under Amazon, said: "I call this deal a milestone and not an acquisition or an exit, because I see it as a step along the road of our mission to provide effective and affordable protection for neighbourhoods".
As part of the deal closing, Amazon dropped the price of the Ring Video Doorbell to $99.99.
Seven & Foxtel Snare $1B Cricket Rights From Nine
Ten CEO Paul Anderson said in a statement that the network was disappointed that its bid for the rights was rejected. Cricket Australia needs $150m a year to meet its obligations to players under last year's fiercely negotiated CBA.
Ring, Blink, and Amazon Cloud Cam will continue operations under their respective brands. "The entire Ring team is excited to continue working hard to create products and services that bring real benefits to people's lives and build safer communities for all our neighbours". If you're looking to kit out your home with smart gadgets that play nicely with Amazon's platform and all the others, it's worth considering Ring and its connected buzzers.
Amazon has been making a number of moves in the smart home sector lately.
"We're excited about their work, their products and their mission, and look forward to teaming together to keep delighting customers". Customers will not experience any interruption in service and can contact the appropriate company's customer service team with any questions or issues. There's also the Video Doorbell Elite, but it'll set users back by $499.99.
But Ring is cheaper than some of its rivals. This specific smart doorbell comes in 'Satin Nickel,' 'Polished Brass,' 'Antique Brass,' and 'Venetian Bronze.'
