If the race is postponed, it will be run on Monday. Completing the top 10 were Kyle Larson, Paul Menard, Alex Bowman, Michael McDowell and Joey Logano. He also has a history of running well at Bristol, earning the pole last August and leading a race-high 260 laps before finishing second to current teammate Kyle Busch.
Kyle Busch earned the pole. Erik Jones led 260 laps and looked like he could have a shot at winning his first Cup Series race, but he ultimately finished second. Jimmie Johnson led 81 laps and won his second career Bristol race. No other Gibbs auto starts in the top 10, though. The top 10 included some of the usual suspects (Kurt Busch, Kevin Harvick and Joey Logano), but it also included two surprises: Trevor Bayne ran fifth for Roush Fenway Racing and, even more surprisingly, Matt DiBenedetto finished sixth in a BK Racing vehicle. "All the fans love it because of the excitement, the run-ins and the close-quarter action with all the cars being packed on top of one another at a half-mile racetrack with us 40 lunatics running around in a tight circle".
FINAL PRACTICE: David Ragan had the fastest lap in the final practice Saturday, while Chase Elliott was second fastest and Denny Hamlin third. Three of Busch's Cup wins there came over a four-race span in 2009 and 2010.
So as Busch and the Skittles team head to the Bristol Bullring this weekend, they'll hope last weekend's Texas win is just the start of something big.
