GETTYPhil Thompson expects Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne to win the PFA Player of the Year

The six-man shortlist was announced on Saturday and is completed by Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea, City pair David Silva and Leroy Sane and Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane.

Kane, 24, is also up for the PFA Young Player of the Year award.

Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah tops the six man shortlist for this season's Professional Footballers' Association Players' Player of the Year.

The victor will be announced on Monday 23 April at the PFA Awards.

De Bruyne, meanwhile, has bagged 11 goals and 20 assists in all competitions for the Citizens to help his team be on the cusp of lifting a third top flight trophy in seven seasons, as well as secure the Carabao Cup back in late February.

De Bruyne and Silva have, literally, been central to City rise to the Premier League summit this season.
