Sega Ages Bringing Classics To Switch Beginning In Summer 2018

Sega Ages announced for the Nintendo Switch, Sonic, Phantasy Star and more

Next, following in the footsteps of the Sega Genesis Mini, SEGA announced the coming of the Mega Drive Mini.

At the moment we do not know about the pricing of these 15 titles so as soon as we hear something regarding the upcoming titles, we will let you guys know.

In the wee small hours of this morning during Sega Fes 2018, the publisher announced its return to the console space, with the House of Sonic set to once again go toe-to-toe with Nintendo, at least in terms of pint-sized consoles.

SEGA did say that developer M2 will be responsible for the Switch ports of those classic SEGA games.

With the likelihood of a true Virtual Console (such as the Wii U or 3DS has) growing ever-slimmer as Nintendo Online looks to replace it with specific offerings via subscription, collections like Sega Ages will pacify fans of older games who don't want to dig up dusty consoles or chase after expensive used versions.

Talking about teaming up, Sega has also announced its partnership with Retro-Bit in order to manufacture classic peripherals and accessories.

The Sega Genesis console was a massive global success.

Assuming that is the case, it would be really exciting, that the company is bringing a retro console in the market. Unfortunately, the company did not disclose more details, such as price or release date, nor gave clues about the titles that will accompany it; it was only confirmed that its launch aims to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the original launch, which took place in October 1988 in Japan.
