Paddy Jackson is set to make a swift return to rugby with French giants Clermont Auvergne said to be favourites to land the Ireland global, according to The Sunday Times.

"In arriving at this decision, the Irish Rugby Football Union and Ulster Rugby acknowledge our responsibility and commitment to the core values of the game: Respect, Inclusivity and Integrity".

It is understood a number of final contractual issues were still to be ironed out on Friday, so confirmation could be delayed to the start of next week.

After the IRFU released their statement the out half said, 'I am deeply disappointed about the outcome of the IRFU and Ulster Rugby's internal review.
