Premier League on Betfair: Man City confirmed as champions after Baggies shock United

United's comeback at the Etihad from a 2-0 half-time deficit offered their supporters a rare fillip of flair and excitement after a hard season where their style of play has hardly endeared Jose Mourinho to the club's fanbase. The loss to West Brom only highlights the inconsistency.

The United manager remains confident in his own ability but said his side must replicate City's consistency next season.

West Brom had won three games all season prior to Sunday.

Following a promising start to the season, United looked as though they were going to challenge for top spot.

However, United were second-best all afternoon and Darren Moore's men earned their reward for a spirited display thanks to Jay Rodriguez's close-range header 17 minutes from time.

Alexis Sanchez wasn't the worst player in a red shirt and tried to spark his side into life.

United delayed City's title celebrations by winning last week's derby at the Etihad Stadium but Mourinho admitted that victory had a hollow feel.

Mata sliced wide from just outside the penalty area before the ineffective Pogba was hauled off for Anthony Martial just before the hour in a desperate attempt to inject some spark into United's lifeless attack.

The ISPR statement further said that the officials were reviewing fencing arrangements on the border when the incident occurred. The two US allies routinely accuse each other of failing to crack down on militants who operate along the porous border.

"Eight titles are eight titles and three Premier Leagues are three Premier Leagues".

"We were masters in complication, everything was complicated". "One more touch to control the ball, one more flick, one more trick".

"When we have the ball, we want to run with the ball, we want to dribble, and everything was complicated and probably in our best period where we were moving the ball better and the team was thinking faster and the team had more width was when they scored".

At least West Brom won't be around next season to win at Old Trafford, but the team which had won only once since August are the type of side title contenders should be beating out of sight, not tripping up against at home.

Jose Mourinho says Paul Pogba's yellow card was influential in his substitution against West Brom on Sunday before aiming a dig at the Man Utd man.

"They won the title because they were the best team, because they won a great amount of points".

They won it in the last remaining seconds in 2012, and in the final match in 2014.

Newcastle United virtually guaranteed their Premier League safety as they came from a goal down to beat Arsenal 2-1 at a spring-like St James' Park yesterday.
