It's been 11 days since the body of a minor girl - who was tortured and raped - was found dumped in the bushes in a Surat locality, but the police have not been able to identify her, let alone nab the culprits, Mumbai Mirror reported. The girl's age has been estimated to be between nine and 11 years old.
A reward of Rs 20,000 has been announced for anyone providing information about the girl or her family. The body bore 86 injury marks, including injuries on her private parts.
Police have registered a case under sections 302 (Punishment for murder), 323 (Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), and 376 (Punishment for rape), and under provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) against unidentified persons.
The body was found on April 6 at a cricket ground in Surat's Bhestan area, but the girl has not been identified yet.
On Sunday, Surat police Commissioner Satish Sharma sought people's help in finding the identity of the girl.
