Nintendo Magazine confirm gen 8/new mechanics Pokemon Switch

So far, we know about a handful of the games that will be released over the course of this year, including Sonic the Hedgehog, Alex Kidd In Miracle World, Gain Ground, Phantasy Star and Thunder Force IV.

Just a few hours ago, we reported on the news that Sega would be introducing a number of classic games from its library on the Nintendo Switch, under the brand name Sega Ages.

SEGA have announced that it will bringing their line of Sega Ages games to the Switch in 2018. The studio was also involved in other retro re-releases from Sega. As such, we prefer to treat these revelations as rumors until the Pokemon Company itself confirms these details regarding the Pokemon Nintendo Switch game. The last Pokemon game to be released was Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, which was released on the Nintendo 3DS. For instance, the Sega Ages version of Sonic the Hedgehog will include the super-obscure Mega Play arcade version, and Phantasy Star will add new difficulty settings, an updated save system, and more. At the time it first made this announcement, the Sega Ages initiative was only confirmed for Japan, but today, Sega revealed that titles in the series will be coming to North America and Europe as well.

The Pokemon Company has not officially announced anything that would be deemed concrete information for its upcoming Pokemon Nintendo Switch game. This is certainly a welcome addition to the Switch's lineup and should help tide fans over while we wait for Nintendo to re-release their own classics on the system.

"SEGA AGES aims to bring prominent titles from SEGA's legacy catalog to fans around the world", an official message from the company reads.
