Manchester City were crowned Premier League champions after Manchester United's surprising home defeat to West Brom on Sunday.

It is also City's first win under former Barcelona and Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola, who may have missed the moment after saying on Saturday that he had a round of golf booked with his son.

However, City are now 16 points clear of second-placed United, meaning a defeat for Jose Mourinho's men at Old Trafford against a West Brom side on the brink of relegation - kick-off is at 1500 GMT - would wrap up a third title in seven seasons.

Guardiola failed to win a trophy during his first season in English football but has now added the Premier League to the EFL Cup crown collected against Arsenal in February.

So in a way, after not being able to clinch the title last week against Manchester United and getting eliminated in the Champions League by Liverpool, clinching the Premier League without playing will seem bittersweet.

A serial victor as a manager with Barcelona and Barcelona, Guardiola ended his first year in England at City without silverware - his only failure to win a trophy since his managerial career started back in 2007.

"Champions! What a great feeling!"

"I will tell you what I told him after the (City) match and it's exactly what I told him - I don't expect you to be man of the match every week, I don't expect you to score two goals every week", said Mourinho. It isn't quite the record for earliest title-winning date.

"After last week we wanted to keep going with the same spirit".

Jerry Jones on Dez Bryant Release: Decision in 'Best Interest' of Cowboys
The Baltimore Ravens are interested in Bryant , according to a report from Jeff Zrebiac of the Baltimore Sun . Bryant was released from the Cowboys due to the potential cap hit, which was $17 million last season.

United's comeback at the Etihad from a 2-0 half-time deficit offered their supporters a rare fillip of flair and excitement after a hard season where their style of play has hardly endeared Jose Mourinho to the club's fanbase.

"I trust in my work, that is for sure - I have no reason not to trust", he said.

"But the Premier League is one of the nicest and most important".

Alexis Sanchez has been directly involved in four goals in his last two PL appearances, with one goal and three assists.

"I expect you to be consistent in a certain level".

"I think United will win".

"That doesn't make me feel super happy and in my opinion affected for sure some of the people that was too happy".

Neither United nor West Brom have any suspension issues and that extends as far as having no players on the verge of a ban thanks to the FA's latest amnesty.
