However, it will not be enough to retain the award, that's heading to Manchester this term.

But he admits De Gea's growth has been phenomenal to watch and indicated that his brilliance between the sticks has shielded some shoddy defending from Manchester United.

Manchester City's Ederson is in second place on 16 with just one league game remaining.

Courtois has been let down this season by Chelsea's defensive frailties, as well as making a few mistakes of his own.

The Spaniard picked up the award after keeping his 18th Premier League clean sheet of the season in tonight's 0-0 draw at West Ham.

JOSE MOURINHO, Man United manager, reacting to Thursday's 0-0 draw.

"It feels good, it is my first Golden Glove award", he told MUTV after the match at the London Stadium.

Outfielder Dalton Pompey was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo. "Hopefully it's the first of many", Alford said of his first RBI. Xander Bogaerts stroked his fourth homer leading off the fourth for Boston to tie the game, and that should have been it.

De Gea is happy with how things have gone on an individual level, though, telling United Review: "I think it's been a very complete season for me, my best since I've been at the club, I reckon".

"Of course I can understand that it's a team effort, this and that but we know what he has done". But the Golden Glove is about the team and not about somebody analyzing the goalkeeper, and deciding this is the best goalkeeper of the Premier League.

"It's always good to be able to help out the team and to try and be at your highest level of form possible to be able to earn points for the team". It is about clean sheets and they are on the team.

Mourinho did reserve praise for de Gea, calling his shutout award a "great team achievement".

On top of that, the Spanish stopper was nominated for PFA Player of the Year, won by Liverpool's Mohamed Salah, and once again took his place in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year.

Additionally, the Reds' no.1 was voted the Manchester United's Player of the Year by the fans for the fourth time in five years and he also scooped the Players' Player award following another fabulous season between the posts.
