Arfield is the first major signing of the Gerrard era, but as the man himself admits, Rangers were interested in signing him several months ago - before Gerrard's appointment.
One should not be surprised if Gerrard is able to bring in one or two more established Premier League players to Rangers this summer.
"I think it's inevitable we are going to draw them, isn't it?"
"As soon as the interest came in it was something I wanted to go for", said the midfielder. If you don't get excited by it you shouldn't walk through the front door.

His comments on Sunday mirror what he told reporters at a news conference with South Korean Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha on Friday.
"I'm really, really excited about it and so is Steven".
"I was lucky enough to play against him (Gerrard) and it was one of the highlights of my career".
Arfield signed the day after Rangers followed Burnley into the Europa League and the Canada global senses the teams are destined to meet.
When asked about his memories of facing Gerrard, he said: "Getting beat, getting overrun, and I remember coming off the pitch thinking I'm not as good as I first thought".
Arfield, who was born in Scotland but plays his global football for Canada, where his father is from, made almost 200 appearances for Burnley. There is much more to be done of course as we look to build towards our Europa League campaign which will start in early July.
