North Carolina legend Michael Jordan is finally getting his '30 for 30'

Films and Netflix will partner on the project, and Jordan has signed off on his participation.

One of the big themes of the Michael Jordan myth is that the "Jordan era" was the start of professional sports' integration into mass media, advertising, and pop culture. That said, today (May 15) ESPN and Netflix announced that they will be dropping a 10-part documentary about his Airness in 2019.

Films and Netflix are partnering up for a 10-part docu-series that will chronicle the rise of National Basketball Association legend Michael Jordan as well as the 1990s Chicago Bulls.

Michael Jordan is one of North America's (and the world's) most iconic athletes ever.

The series will be directed by Jason Hehir, who has previously directed other sports documentaries such as The Fab Five, The '85 Bears, and Andre the Giant.

Michael Jordan will be the subject in "The Last Dance" which will be officially announced on Tuesday, according to the Sporting News' Michael McCarthy. It is expected to pull from 500 hour of never-before-seen-footage from the 1997-98 championship season.
