Nevada state Attorney General Adam Paul Laxalt alleges in a civil complaint filed Tuesday in Las Vegas that Purdue Pharma minimized risks and overstated benefits of long-term use of narcotic opioids including OxyContin.

Despite filing separate lawsuits, the six attorneys general on Tuesday said they would continue to engage in settlement discussions with Purdue and other companies.

The drug manufacturer denied the lawsuits' allegations and said it is disappointed that after months of good faith negotiations working toward a meaningful resolution to help the state of Tennessee address the opioid crisis, the attorney general has unilaterally made a decision to pursue a costly and protracted litigation process. The suit is a warning that Florida officials are "fully prepared to go to war" if the companies balk at a settlement, she added.
"Our Office has conducted an extensive investigation into Purdue's highly aggressive marketing practices and other unlawful conduct", Slattery said.
