Star Wars boss wants to give Lando his own movie after all

Emilia Clarke is tired of hearing female leads called “strong”

Childish Gambino's 'Star Wars' Character Will Get Spin-Off Film

However, don't expect to see him having his own spinoff film for his role in Solo: A Star Wars Story as Lando Calrissian anytime soon.

That's right, following the premiere of Solo: A Star Wars Story, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy has confirmed/teased that the galaxy's most charming gambler is due to get his time in the spotlight (at long last). Her comment should have read, "We would love to tell a story about Lando Calrissian one day, but it's not relevant", Premiere wrote. Directed by Ron Howard (who joined production after Lucasfilm fired the the film's initial directors, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller), Solo stars Alden Ehrenreich as the young Han Solo, stepping into the nearly-impossible-to-fill shoes of Harrison Ford, along with Glover, Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, Thandie Newton, and Paul Bettany.

The original story, from Premiere France, quoted Kennedy as stating that: "We think that the next spinoff will be dedicated to Lando Calrissian". "When they called me up there, I said, 'I don't know if I'm up for a fourth Star Wars movie, ' and they said, 'Well, what if it was Han?'" "It would be fun to tell the story of Han and Chewie". Kennedy instead said something akin to the Lando Calrissian movie being something she'd like to do some day, but there are no concrete plans for it to be the next spin-off just yet. The movie is presented as the beginning of a franchise, with much more story left to explore before we meet the character in Star Wars: A New Hope. Next year, we'll get Episode IX, then maybe an Obi-Wan solo movie after that. In turns out that it was simply a miscommunication between Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy and a French journalist.

Senate panel approves CIA nominee Haspel despite torture background
But for Warner, and for the Democrats who followed his lead to also announce their support for Haspel on Tuesday, it was enough. John McCain of Arizona urged colleagues to reject the nominee over her past role in the CIA's 'enhanced interrogations'.

So, we don't yet have a confirmed Lando movie.

It's evident that Donald Glover portrays Lando Calrissian flawlessly, but could a Lando movie work in terms of great storytelling?
