And on Saturday night things got out of hand when Krista Glover was arrested by the St Johns County Sheriff's Department and charged with domestic violence and resisting arrest.
The incident is said to have occurred on Saturday (local time) and came after Glover carded a poor 78 at the event, meaning that although he made the cut, he did not finish the tournament after slipping so far out of contention.
"Lucas stated Krista acts this way and starts altercations all the time, but has never done so in front of his mom", the report said. The report said that when his mother, Hershey Glover, tried to intervene, Krista Glover began attacking her.
Krista Glover was arrested at a Ponte Vedra, Fla., rental house where the couple was staying for the Players Championship.
Krista walked up to them and claimed she was attacked by her mother-in-law during an argument with her husband.
Glover and his mother were both found with lacerations on their arms, while his mother also had blood on her clothes.
Glover, who won the 2009 US Open posted a message on Twitter on Tuesday (Wednesday NZT). The report also states Krista threatened the police. The report noted, however, she had no visible injuries. Neither Lucas or his mother required attention from paramedics. After being arrested, police say Krista Glover became combative and unruly and repeatedly kicked the vehicle door.
Four killed in latest Indonesia 'terror' assault
All six bombers were killed, including the mother who was Indonesia's first known female suicide bomber. Earlier, an internal police report said one of the dead men had a suspected bomb strapped to his body.
According to the report, Glover's wife resisted being placed in the back seat of a patrol auto and damaged the door by repeatedly kicking it.
The golfer's mother declined to pursue charges, while Lucas Glover changed his witness statement in a bid to ensure his wife would not be arrested.
"Wait till the tour hears about this", Krista reportedly said.
"This is why cops get shot in the face", she told deputies. Everyone is fine. Regrettably, although Krista was charged, we are comfortable that the judicial system is able to address what actually happened and Krista will be cleared in this private matter.
Lucas Glover asked fans to respect his family's privacy "as we work through this situation".
Glover and his wife were married in 2011 and have two children.
A former Clemson University golf star, Lucas Glover has been on the PGA tour since 2001.
