HBO producing documentary series on Adnan Syed, 'Serial' case

Nick Cave And Warren Ellis Scoring HBO's The Case Against Adnan Syed

The Case Against Adnan Syed: The story from Serial is becoming an HBO series

Taking a hard look at the original crime, The Case Against Adnan Syed will revisit the 1999 disappearance and murder of 18-year-old Hae Min Lee in Baltimore Country.

Berg - who was nominated for an Academy Award for her 2006 documentary Deliver Us from Evil, about sex abuse cases in the Catholic church - is directing the project.

Viewers will hear accounts from Adnan Syed, the defence team, the Syed family, friends and teachers of Hae Min Lee, and members of Baltimore City law enforcement.

The series has been in production since 2015, but there is no date now set for its release. Rabia unveiled a number of facts via more than 100 documents and letters throughout the book, which were not discussed in Sarah Koenig's Serial podcast.

After featuring on Serial in 2014, his case has been deemed controversial - with the podcast detailing alleged inconsistencies in the trial.

SLAYED BY SAUSAGE DOGS: Dachshunds maul woman to death
The dogs, whose legs were shorter than a human hand, ranged in age from one to three years old, with three females and four males. Dinwiddie said it was apparent that the dogs have been living in the woods. "This is just a bad deal all the way around".

Serial Season 1 told Adnan Syed's story and the curious, potentially unfair trial he received.

Welch vacated Adnan Syed's conviction and granted him a new trial after new evidence challenged the reliability of the cell phone data that linked Syed to the crime scene, and a long-awaited alibi witness finally had her day in court. Working Title TV and Instinct Productions are producing, and NBC Universal International Studios are distributing the follow-up to the case, which will play on the Sky Atlantic channel in the United Kingdom and in the US on HBO, Reuters reported.

However, in March this year the Court of Special Appeals ruled to vacate his conviction and granted him a retrial.

Nick Cave and Warren Ellis have scored music for the upcoming docuseries "The Case Against Adnan Syed".

Instinct's Henrietta Conrad and Jemima Khan serve as executive producers alongside Working Title's Eric Fellner, Tim Bevan and Andrew Stearn.
