Taking a hard look at the original crime, The Case Against Adnan Syed will revisit the 1999 disappearance and murder of 18-year-old Hae Min Lee in Baltimore Country.
Berg - who was nominated for an Academy Award for her 2006 documentary Deliver Us from Evil, about sex abuse cases in the Catholic church - is directing the project.
Viewers will hear accounts from Adnan Syed, the defence team, the Syed family, friends and teachers of Hae Min Lee, and members of Baltimore City law enforcement.
The series has been in production since 2015, but there is no date now set for its release. Rabia unveiled a number of facts via more than 100 documents and letters throughout the book, which were not discussed in Sarah Koenig's Serial podcast.
After featuring on Serial in 2014, his case has been deemed controversial - with the podcast detailing alleged inconsistencies in the trial.
