Toure is rated as one of the greatest players City have ever had.

"You know, Guardiola can not be called a dog", he told Sport24.

Pep Guardiola has come out strongly to rubbish claims made by Ivory Coast midfielder Yaya Toure about him.

We're not quite sure why Toure made those comments but given the reaction from his former teammates and Guardiola himself, it seems they made more out of spite than any sort of evidence.

In an interview with France Football, Toure strongly criticised his former boss at Manchester City. (He had) 365 and 365 (days) to tell me (his feelings).

"At a time when English clubs are spending huge sums of money on players, I officially declare that Yaya is ready to move to any top-six English club as a free agent with a salary of £1 per week", he said.

But he was limited to just 17 appearances in all competitions last season.

Guardiola also refuted suggestions he could be tempted to return to Barcelona as manager one day. "We won the FA Cup at the end, so it was a little bit better, but I am focused only on the World Cup".

Guardiola won an incredible 14 titles during a four-year spell as Barcelona head coach including three La Ligas, two Champions Leagues and two Copa del Reys. It was a generation of brutal players and the best player in the world (Lionel Messi).

"I even asked coaches for my stats".

"My time there as a coach is finished because I'm not the same as I was then, nor is the way they see me the same", he added.

City smashed club and divisional records as they stormed to the Premier League title and racked up an unprecedented 100 points in 2017-18.
