Trump withdraws endorsement of G7 joint statement, slams 'weak' Trudeau

The Latest: Merkel finds Trump's action sobering, depressing

US blames Canada for G7 fiasco, says Trudeau 'stabbed us in the back'

The G7 summit came after the Trump administration decided last week to impose tariffs on steel and aluminum imports from the European Union, Canada and Mexico, which has drawn strong opposition from us business community and quick retaliation from major USA trading partners. The president, as is his wont, took to Twitter.

The president's team asserted that Trump and his team had agreed to the Communique in good faith, but now it is unclear what trade agreement will be reached amongst the coalition.

The rumours even reached the Twitter feed of former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee, whose daughter Sarah Huckabee Sanders is Mr Trump's press secretary.

Shortly afterward, the White House issued a separate photo showing a sitting Trump speaking as Merkel, Abe and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau listen.

There was plenty of bluster before and after the summit, then-but very little of it during the actual event. "After the last few days, it's hard to tell", he tweeted.

In response to the initial tweets critical of her country and prime minister, Canada's foreign minister, Chrystia Freeland, said her nation "does not conduct its diplomacy through ad hominem attacks". Who knows what to do with Trump?

The point is these summits are silly, often spectacularly so.

Trump made the comments in tweets from Air Force One as he headed to Singapore for his summit with Kim, stepping back from the generally positive tone that had ended the two-day meeting in Quebec. "Who are you with, out of curiosity?"

Barry Goodfield on what to watch for during President Trump's summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un . Analysts say Kim will check off one of his goals simply by sharing the summit stage with Trump.

Saying Trudeau's statements are "amateurish" and "sophomoric" only "for domestic consumption", Kudlow said it was Trudeau's remarks that had prompted Trump to pull out of the joint communique. "The level of the relationship is a 10". "But we say that with great sadness". "When I'm telling them, they're smiling at me". "Canada, thank you for the flawless organisation of G7!", he said further, about the meet hosted by Trudeau in Quebec. "Instead, we act then too". But U.S. President Donald Trump's abrupt rejection of the joint communique and angry tweets left the annual meeting in disarray. "That's what matters." That agreement, released as the summit communiqué, is over 4,000 words long. May paid tribute to Mr. Trudeau for "his leadership and skillful chairing" of the G7 and added that the United Kingdom "fully intends to honour the commitments we have made" in the final communiqué.

Change is coming, he declared.

CNN's Jake Tapper interjected: "So this was about North Korea?"

On Sunday, after the summit, Trudeau held a press conference in which he spoke about American trade policies. Was it really "socialist"? "They're also anxious about the retaliatory measures that we will take".

Many border communities are truly intertwined. "Our tariffs are in response to his of 270 per cent on dairy!"

"My Fellow Americans, let's all.ThankCanada for things we love they've brought to our lives", he wrote, naming a number of people, including Drake, Leonard Cohen and comedy series SCTV. "We highlight the importance of working towards making social protection more effective and efficient and creating quality work environments for workers, including those in non-standard forms of work".

White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow accused Trudeau of undermining Trump right before his meeting in Singapore with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. I suspect the personal will also be more fascinating than the political in Singapore this week.
