Liverpool have been heavily linked with a move for the Brazil global throughout 2018 but Roma's eye-watering €80m (£70m) valuation has so far prevented the Anfield club from making a bid.

Even before Loris Karius' costly errors in the Champions League final, Jürgen Klopp had been said to be looking at bringing in a new goalkeeper, with AS Roma's Brazilian worldwide Alisson most frequently linked with a transfer to Anfield.

The report adds that Liverpool also appear to have been priced out of a move for Atletico Madrid's Jan Oblak, forcing Klopp to reconsider his options. "€78 million is needed and he's close to joining Real Madrid".

That transfer is now off-for now at least-but Shaqiri has been heavily linked to the Reds over the past couple of weeks.

However, Alisson has asked his agents not to distract him with club football at the moment as he is busy preparing himself for his World Cup debut against Switzerland on Sunday.

Roma insist they don't want to sell Alisson, and have slapped a price tag in excess of £70m on him to deter clubs from making a bid.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is reportedly considering the idea to not bother signing a new goalkeeper this summer, having ultimately given up his pursuit of Roma stopper Alisson Becker. 'We will see if something happens during this week.
