Martial's agent, Philippe Lamboley, is not convinced the Red Devils are committed to making the France global a major figure at the club.
The Frenchman, who just missed out on being part of his country's World Cup squad, seems to feel his best interests would be suited by a move away from United.
The attackers agent, Philippe Lamboley, has told French media that Martial has chose to look for a fresh start away from Old Trafford. "I can tell you that without the unconditional love of the supporters, Anthony would've asked to leave Manchester United sooner", Lamboley explained.
That said, it is United's unwillingness to accelerate contract talks that has played a role in Martial wanting to leave the club, according to his agent.
"Anthony will speak later to discuss all of this".
Theresa May’s frantic search for the flawless Brexit compromise
Now the focus shifts to the price of the rebels' compliance, and it could be a high one for the beleaguered prime minister.
"I think that when Manchester United, the most powerful club in the world, do not find an agreement after eight months of negotiations then they do not really want to keep such an important player in their squad".
"That's why this decision comes in".
"It's important to remember that he is under contract and that Manchester United will have the last word", Lamboley added.
"We simply don't share their view of Anthony's future".
He is yet to be offered a new deal by the Red Devils, and will be free to talk to European clubs about his future from January onwards regarding a free transfer next summer.
