Private sector days off for Eid Al Fitr have been announced

Eidul-Fitr is an important religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide to mark the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting (sawm). Some Muslims observe six days of fasting during Shawwāl beginning the day after Eid ul-Fitr since fasting is prohibited on this day. Preparations have begun in full swing and we can already see markets hustling with Eid special desserts and delicacies, especially in the dingy lanes of Old Delhi; we love the hustle bustle and everything in between.

The committee will be tasked with the job of spotting the new crescent moon which signals the arrival of Eid Al Fitr.

Beside the Central Ruet-e-Hial Committee, zonal committees will hold meetings in major cities of the country to collect evidence regarding the sighting of Shawal moon.

Earlier, the federal government made all-out efforts to celebrate Eid on the same day across the country through sending the controversial Khateeb Mufti Shahabuddin Popalzai to Dubai just a few days before Eidul Fitr but unfortunately they failed in this regard.

Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) also will remain closed for three days from Sunday, June 17 in view of Eid al-Fitr holidays. According to astronomical parameters, there is a "slight" chance of sighting the new moon on Thursday.

These institutions will resume normal operations on Wednesday, June 20, sources said.
