While those moving between Xbox One and Switch have no problems, this isn't anything new as players were unable to share a Fortnite account between Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The company issued the following statement to the BBC and it doesn't come across very well.
When that release to Android actually happens, Fortnite will be available on PC, iOS, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Android, and the Nintendo Switch.
Up until this point, Sony has been rather quiet about the whole situation.
Not only did Sony did not acknowledge the hottest console out there, which happens to be the Switch right now, but it also did not provide any insight into what would make cross-play impossible between the PS4 and the Switch. For us, its one of many mechanics we can use to drive on-going engagement in the game. Well, they can't really laugh off this other bigger cross-play problem. Many games don't bridge the gap between the PC and consoles, for example, due to their different input methods.
Sony chiefs are under pressure to respond to complaints about "cross-play" restrictions imposed on Fortnite.
Whatever the reason, it's clear that Sony wants the PS4 to be an island.
Let's not forget that Fortnite is free-to-play. But it's understandable, or at least not unusual for Sony. (Insert obligatory-yet-dated "Lost" reference here.) Previously using an Epic account for any of the company's games, like the now-defunct Paragon, will apparently prevent you from signing in to the same account on a different platform. "Neither the "Fortnite" website nor Epic Customer Service are able to change this".
Why Texas Cities Should Host the 2026 World Cup
On July 7, Orlando City SC will host a day-long watch party at Orlando City Stadium for the World Cup quarterfinal match at 2 p.m. Russia's win was also the biggest in a World Cup opener in 84 years since Italy's 7-1 over the United States in 1934.
In practice, that means that they will lose their existing skins, paid-for items and progress in the game.
The Switch version of Fortnite has all the same features as the version on PC and other consoles.
During the Nintendo Treehouse live stream, the presenters of Super Mario Party announced that the game will include an online multiplayer mode that can be played with friends or the world wide community. In fact, you can't even log in with a PS4 account.
This leaves us with two major takeaways.
When I talked about the problem with Sony not backing down with cross-play previous year with Minecraft (when even Apple and Nintendo were on board), most people laughed it off - "why would Sony work with their arch rival Microsoft and benefit them?" they said. "The game mechanic of buying something that you're not sure what's inside is as old as baseball cards", he told Bloomberg.
"We're always open to hearing what the PlayStation community is interested in to enhance their gaming experience", Sony's statement said.
