Alleged sexual abuse victim sends emails to Ohio Rep

Ohio lawmaker accused of ignoring abuse of Ohio State student-athletes

Rep. Jim Jordan denies allegations he ignored sexual abuse of Ohio State wrestlers

"Jim knew this - there's no ifs, ands or buts", Michael DiSabato, one of the former wrestlers named in the NBC account, said Tuesday in an interview.

"I don't believe them at all", Trump said to the press pool on the plane.

Jordan, a founder of the conservative Freedom Caucus, is one of the most powerful Republicans in Congress and a potential contender for speaker. He has taken leading roles in fighting the Affordable Care Act and in pushing back against the government's Russian Federation investigation, most recently interrogating Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein in committee.

CNN confronted Jordan himself on this Fourth of July.

Strauss died in 2005, and his death was ruled a suicide.

Ohio State has not released details about the claims but said more than 150 former students and witnesses have been interviewed so far.

Perkins Coie also is reviewing whether Strauss examined high school students.

DiSabato subsequently told CNN it was "laughable" that Jordan would feel threatened by his emails, describing Jordan as a "world caliber athlete, who is very aggressive in his actions" and a "bulldog".

Stranded Thai soccer players joke with rescuer in flooded cave
Cave rescue experts have said it could be safest to simply supply the boys where they are, and wait for the flooding to subside. A video shared by the Thai Navy SEALs leading the rescue mission shows them introducing themselves and stating their age.

A source in Jordan's office, who described the emails as " weird, seemingly unhinged", told ABC News the lawmaker received the emails on his personal account and they were turned over by his staff to Capitol Police for their expert assessment.

"He knew", DiSabato said in a brief phone interview with The Washington Post.

Jordan has served in the U.S. House since 2007. Yetts was accused of bilking investors out of $1.8 million as part of an investment scheme he ran from 1998 to 2001. Yetts said he reported what happened to Hellickson and Jordan. He said the fraud case has nothing to do with what he went through as a student-athlete.

DiSabato, whose allegations began the investigation into Strauss' conduct, pushed back against Jordan saying he was being bullied.

Jordan told Politico he "would have done something about it" had he known of the abuse.

As for DiSabato's claims, Jordan says, "Mike was a friend, but something's changed". If not, it's even money as to whether the politicization of the scandal becomes a big problem for Jim Jordan, or creates a right-wing groundswell to make him the next Speaker. "We reached out to the law firm and asked them to give us a record of you've contacted us". However, the law firm representing Ohio State contradicted that statement in a statement of its own, so it's not clear that Jordan is being entirely forthcoming about anything at this point. The congressman said he does remember Dr. Strauss, but echoed his spokesman by insisting he knew nothing of the alleged abuse.

An investigation into allegations that US Rep. Jim Jordan (D-OH), among others, turned a blind eye to the abuse of athletes by a physician at Ohio State University just surfaced in public this week.
