George Clooney 'has been injured in a bike accident in Sardinia'

The daily says the 57-year-old actor had been headed to a film set on Tuesday when his motorbike was hit by a auto. The accident occurred at Costa Corallina, on a country road.

According to the site, George was said to be hit by a vehicle which suddenly changed direction at a spot close to a hotel.

The John Paul II hospital in Olbia said Clooney was released on Tuesday.

A photo published on La Nuova Sardegna website shows a black scooter on one side of the road, with a dark blue estate auto facing the other way, at an angle across the central reserve.

La Nuova reported he was found to have a slight trauma to the pelvis and bruises to one leg and arm, but his condition was not serious.

Clooney, 57, had just left his hotel on a motor scooter when he crashed into a small truck, Italy's Chi magazine said on its website.

Italian media report the accident happened in Sardinia where the U.S. actor is filming his latest TV series, Catch-22.

The US actor is directing, producing and starring in the six episode miniseries based on Joseph Heller's famous novel.

Calls and emails to Clooney's spokesman in regards to the accident weren't immediately returned, according to Associated Press.

George and Amal were seen arrive in the island on a private jet at the end of June with their twins Alexander and Ella. Clooney fell off the scooter and slammed into the windshield of the Mercedes. It's unclear when George will return to filming.
