Zsa Zsa an English bulldog who won the title of"World's Ugliest Dog in California last month died Monday night in her sleep

The nine-year-old canine died in her sleep Tuesday morning, owner Megan Brainard of Anoka, Minnesota told USA media.

On a Facebook page for Zsa Zsa, owner Megan Brainard confirmed the dog died in her sleep. He says she appeared fine the day before, so it was a shock.

Zsa Zsa, who made worldwide headlines when she won the World's Ugliest Dog competition in San Francisco less about two weeks ago, made headlines again with news of her death.

"Looks are deceiving, some thought she looked scary, but she was the most gentle dog", said Larson.

Brainard adopted her and named her after the actress Zsa Zsa Gabor because she enjoyed lounging about like a lovely model.
