Nokia brand licensee HMD Global on Thursday announced the launch of Nokia 3.1 smartphone in India. The smartphone is priced at Rs 10,499 and will be available both online - on Paytm Mall and Nokia website as well as offline mobile retailers across the country from July 21. Alongside launching the device, HMD also introduced a slew of launch offers including special tariff plans from Idea Cellular and Vodafone India. To start with, customers buying the latest smartphone from a retail store by scanning Paytm Mall QR code will get 10 per cent cashback on recharge and bill payments on Paytm.
The India variant of Nokia 3.1 comes with a 1.5GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6750N processor, 2GB RAM and 16GB storage (expandable up to 128GB).
Before we get into the specs, let's get a couple of things out of the way: the X5 has only been launched in China, but it may get a worldwide release, and if it does come to other markets, rumors suggest it'll have a different name - the Nokia 5.1 Plus. Additionally, the buyers will get two movie cashback vouchers worth Rs 250 that can be redeemed on ticket booking via Paytm. On a recharge of INR 149 pack, they will get 1GB data/day, unlimited calls and 100 SMS/day for 28 days; additionally, consumers upgrading from 2G or 3G phone to the new Nokia 3.1 will get 1GB data/day for 28 days. The device features a 5.2-inch HD+ display with a screen resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels along with 2.5D curved glass and an elongated aspect ratio of 18:9 with some noticeable bezels. On the recharge of Rs 595, consumers will get unlimited calls, 100 SMS per day, 18GB data for six months. In a statement, the company said that the Nokia 3.1 will receive three years of monthly security patches and two years of OS updates from launch, as guaranteed in the Android One programme.
Nokia 3.1 features a 13MP primary camera having f/2 aperture with auto-focus and LED flash. There's a microSD card slot as well for storage expansion. It is backed by a 2,990mAh non-removable battery and might not support fast charging. The 8 megapixel front camera uses algorithms to produce portrait mode ("bokeh") selfies. The handset will be available in three colour options Blue/Copper, Black/Chrome and White/Iron colour.
For connectivity options, the Nokia 3.1 has a 3.5mm audio jack, Micro USB 2.0, LTE Cat4, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2, and GPS, AGPS, GLONASS, and Beidou. While the 2GB RAM variant comes with 16GB of internal storage, the 3GB RAM variant offers 32GB of internal storage.
