The day after he tried to quiet a political uproar over his failure to confront Russian President Vladimir Putin during their Helsinki summit for Moscow's 2016 US election meddling, Trump adopted his usual defiant posture and dismissed assessments of Russia from the intelligence community.

"The President and his administration are working very hard to make sure that Russian Federation is unable to meddle in our elections as they have done in the past and as we have stated", she continued.

Russian President Vladimir Putin offered to allow the U.S. access to Russians accused of election meddling in return for interviews of Americans accused by the Kremlin of unspecified crimes.

The White House said on Wednesday that Trump would meet with his team about U.S officials being questioned by Russian Federation.

"The sentence should have been: "I don't see any reason why I wouldn't" or "why it wouldn't be Russia". Putin said USA intelligence officers helped Browder.

"There are a lot of us who fully understand what happened in 2016 and it really better not happen again in 2018", McConnell said. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., and Chris Van Hollen, D-Md., that would slap new sanctions on Russian Federation or any other country caught posting ads, running fake news or otherwise interfering with election infrastructure.

IT IS still not publicly known what President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed on Monday during their two hours of one-on-one conversation in Helsinki.

While taking questions from reporters at a cabinet meeting, Trump said "thank you very much, no" after ABC News White House correspondent Cecilia Vega asked whether the U.S. is still a target of Russian-led cyberattacks and meddling into USA elections - directly contradicting what director of national intelligence Dan Coats has said on the matter.

The package will also see Danny Green head to Toronto and San Antonio receive Jakob Poeltl and a protected 2019 first-round pick. In a story posted on his Instagram page on Wednesday morning, DeRozan wrote , "Be told one thing & the outcome another".

Later on Tuesday, Mr Trump tweeted: "The meeting between President Putin and myself was a great success, except in the Fake News Media!"

Trump said: "I let him know we can't have this".

Republican and Democrat politicians in the United States, as well as intelligence officials, on Monday denounced Trump's failure to challenge his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin over interference in the elections, calling his responses at a joint news conference in Finland as "shameful" and "disgraceful".

"A BIG discrepancy between President Trump's statement and DNI Coates' warning".

Trump said he had been "very strong on the fact that we can't have meddling, we can't have any of that". But the White House confirmed Wednesday that they did talk about an issue Mr. Putin later raised at their joint news conference in a way that was inappropriate as well as disturbing. "We want to see the notes", Senator Robert Menendez, the top Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee said.

In another tweet on Wednesday, Mr Trump said that Russian Federation had "agreed to help with North Korea", adding that "the process is moving along".

Another, @7bugglettes, said: 'She looks like she just stared into the eyes of evil'. I want to work forward with Putin toward peace, toward nuclear reduction, working to put pressure on North Korea and China, working together collaboratively in Syria against ISIS.

He also offered a twisted explanation of his assertion in Helsinki that he could not see "any reason" why Russian Federation would interfere, claiming he misspoke. Mr Trump can give as many White House statements as he likes, but on the biggest stage - standing beside the Russian president - he fumbled.
