Khamenei: Mismanagement More Harmful Than US Sanctions

Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said Monday government mismanagement has hurt Iran's economy more than USA sanctions.

Khamenei said Monday with better management Iran can resist the US sanctions and overcome them. Iran is believed to have long-range missiles with a range of 2,000 kilometres (1,250 miles), which are capable of reaching USA bases in the region and Israel.

There have been widespread protests and strikes in recent weeks over high prices, unemployment and the wider management of the economy.

State news agency IRNA reported on Monday that Iran is offering oil and gas at a discount to Asian customers in a bid to retain sales. They also appeared to rule out any hope of fresh talks with Washington, which U.S. President Donald Trump had proposed after walking out of the landmark 2015 nuclear deal and reimposing sanctions.

Queen Of Soul Aretha Franklin Reportedly "Gravely Ill" In Hospital
Aretha was said to have been diagnosed with cancer in 2010, and was ordered to rest by doctors in March earlier this year. The Detroit Historical Society reports that Franklin's family lived in Detroit shortly after she was born in 1942.

"Economic experts and many officials believe the cause of this issue is not foreign, it's internal", he said in a speech in Tehran, according to tweets released on his official account and reported by AFP.

Iran's rial currency has lost about half of its value since April in anticipation of the renewed United States sanctions, driven mainly by heavy demand for dollars among ordinary Iranians trying to protect their savings. Defence Minister Gen. Amir Hatami told state TV the surface-to-surface missile, dubbed Fateh-e Mobin, or Bright Conqueror, was effective in all weather conditions.

"The fall of the rial and the increase in gold coin prices are major economic problems... I do not call it betrayal but a huge mistake in management", Khamenei was quoted as saying.

The judiciary said Sunday it had arrested 67 people under a sweeping corruption crackdown and prevented 100 government employees from leaving the country. "We have never started a war and they will not confront Iran militarily", he siad. "Negotiation with the bullying and very eager government of the USA means giving it an instrument through which it can add to its hostility", he said.
