LeBron James says he stands with Kaepernick, Nike 'all day, every day'

Kaepernick, a former San Francisco 49ers quarterback, is infamous for taking a knee during the national anthem to protest against police brutality and racial inequality, in a peaceful protest that has enraged the president since he first did it in 2016. I'm not gonna speak for them, but there was no one happy about it.

The two-minute spot released Wednesday highlights superstar athletes LeBron James, Serena Williams, and others.

"Believe in something, even if it means sacrificing everything", Kaepernick adds.

On Sept. 5, Nike unveiled a star-studded new "Dream Crazy" TV spot featuring Kaepernick, promoting the idea that "calling a dream insane isn't an insult; it's a compliment". The player protests have become a divisive topic of debate, and the National Football League and players union still haven't said whether players will be punished this season if they choose to kneel or demonstrate during the anthem.

Nike stock leveled off after the initial reaction to the ad.

Separately, an analysis by Tickertags, a company that tracks the frequency of keywords on social media, found that mentions of "boycott" in conjunction with Nike were falling.

Cantona posted a photograph of him wearing a Nike hoodie, with the caption "I am wearing #Nike more than ever".

While Nike has received a lot of criticism, others have come out in support. Someone as big as Nike is making a stand. "I think what Nike is doing is right". Whether customers will actually do what they say they intend to do or their anger quickly fizzles out isn't easily determined.
