NFL Season Opener: Twitter Reacts To Falcons' Loss To The Eagles

Midway through the third quarter, the Eagles were facing a critical 3rd-and-5 from the Atlanta 41.

The topic of conversation on one Fox Sports 1 program Friday is likely to be centered on "how full of themselves" the Eagles and head coach, Doug Pederson are. This time, Foles caught a 15-yard pass from Nelson Agholor to extend a drive that ended with Ajayi scoring a go-ahead 1-yard TD run in the third quarter.

"It's great to have it at the right time if you can catch a team (off guard)", Foles said.

"I reminded the team that last night isn't going to define us, in terms of our red-zone play for the year", Quinn said. "We knew coming in this was going to be a good matchup defensively, offensively and all in different areas but that part of our game clearly tonight we didn't execute at the level we'd like and we've got work to do".

The reality, however, is that Foles needs to play better.

It was also a reminder of the "Philly Special" play Philadelphia used against New England on a fourth-and-goal in the Super Bowl, where tight end Trey Burton - now with the Bears - threw a touchdown to Foles.

If the Eagles need any help at receiver once Wentz is cleared to play after knee surgery last December, Foles is ready to go.

Instead, Ryan took the blame. Both teams looked rusty after many starters didn't play much in preseason.

The game kicked off following a almost hour-long weather delay. Foles wasn't supposed to play like a backup against the Atlanta Falcons.

The Eagles' offense was booed on its way to the tunnel for halftime after gaining just 68 yards on 30 plays. The Falcons had 15 infractions (their most since 1990) for 135 yards (most since 2007).

On the Eagles' final drive of the game, an eight play, 54-yard drive, the team ran the ball four times.

"The ability to get back out there and have fun and celebrate and have passion no matter the play, it feels good", Hicks said.
