In a secret she kept "from nearly everyone", Olivia Newton-John was diagnosed with cancer in her shoulder five years ago-more than 20 years after she was first diagnosed with breast cancer, CNN notes.

Her publicist dismissed the rumours at the time, blaming scheduling conflicts for the change of plans, but in a new Australian TV interview, which aired on Sunday, Olivia admitted doctors had discovered a tumour at the base of her spine.

Olivia Newton-John has confirmed she's facing her third battle with cancer.

Olivia told Sunday Night she has made a decision to treat this cancer with "modern" medicines and natural remedies, as well as cutting out sugar completely and taking cannabis oil for the pain.

Seeking treatment from a clinic in the United States, Newton-John says that the oestrogen-blocking medicine she was prescribed caused depression. "But my husband's always there - he's always there to support me, and I believe I will win over it, and that's my goal".

Newton-John was one of the most successful vocalists of the 1970s, racking up country-pop and soft rock hits like "I Honestly Love You" and "Let Me Be There".

Outside of her own battles with cancer, the disease has struck another member of her family: Her sister died six weeks after being diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer in 2013.

The singer is also "treating it naturally and doing really well", she said.

So he makes me tinctures. In 2013, cancer was found in her shoulder. "It's my life and I chose to keep it to myself".

Discussing the alternative treatment, Newton-John writes, "This has helped me greatly with pain and sleep". "A lot of people see it as a fight and wherever you choose to see it, that's your prerogative".

"I live in a attractive place, have a wonderful husband, all these animals I adore, I have an incredible career - I have nothing really to complain about".

"I'm a very privileged person and I'm very aware of that". I have a wonderful husband.

Since learning of her latest diagnosis, Sir Barry Gibb, Bee Gees co-founder and long-time friend of Newton-John, told the Australian outlet that he's praying for her recovery. I have an incredible career.
