OnePlus 6T fingerprint on display confirmed

OnePlus Confirms That the OnePlus 6T Will Sport an In-Display Fingerprint Reader

OnePlus 6T will include an in-display fingerprint reader

Such an addition would allow users to unlock the phone by simply placing their finger on the screen itself.

For that reason the OnePlus 6T is highly anticipated - it is expected to build upon everything the OnePlus 6 did right while also touting new features of its own.

Called Screen Unlock, the technology enables the company to switch the sensor from the rear of the handset to the front, hidden at the bottom of the display.

The upcoming OnePlus 6T will feature an in-display fingerprint reader, the company confirmed to CNET. This could probably be a reason why Apple is not comfortable with placing this sensor in its future iPhone models. The company wanted to introduce the technology on the OnePlus 5T a year ago, but "the technology wasn't mature to meet [OnePlus'] standards for delivering a fast and smooth user experience".

He will have an unexpected week off before joining the American team for the September 28-30 Ryder Cup in Paris. I obviously accept whatever fine it is and move on and try and add one (new event) every year.

The OnePlus 6T is rumoured to have a waterdrop notch and a triple-camera system on the back.

CNET further explains that the OnePlus 6T will be 0.45mm thicker than the predecessor, because of the extra component that goes under the display.

As part of the tease, the official Twitter handle of OnePlus posted a 6-second video which showed what appears to be a "Swipe up to access the app drawer" or "Swipe up to unlock" the device button.

It's an interesting evolution of fingerprint readers, and this isn't the first time we've seen it applied to a consumer device.
