Apple's got two new main versions of the iPhone this year: the iPhone XS (ten-ess) and XS Max.

At 5.94 by 2.98 by 0.33 inches (HWD), the XR is between the size of the iPhone 8 and the iPhone 8 Plus. Instead we'll compare the iPhone XS and XR. However there are new Android phones with similar or better specifications that sell for considerably less than the 2017 iPhone 8, and Android has a higher market share in Australia than iPhone. I do miss narrower phones a bit. Another notable addition: Both the XS and XS Max support a dual-SIM card system, enabling multiple phone numbers and easier global travel. The Xr will be available in Canada starting at $1,029 according to Apple.

As you can always expect, the latest iPhones come with pretty heavy price tags.

Okay, so wait, you say.

The XS has the exact same look and dimensions as the original iPhone X, while the Max is a plus-size variant with a 6.5-inch display.

California mandates 100 percent clean energy by 2045
A new California law says the state must phase out fossil fuels from its electrical grid by 2045. By 2045, all of the state's electricity must come from renewable or other zero-carbon sources.

If that claim is accurate, it'll be interesting to see it in action; Face ID in the iPhone X is fast, but there's still room for improvement. It's a very good, very saturated, very deep LCD. This one will cost nearly $1,100, topping last year's iPhone X, which at $1,000 seemed jaw-dropping at the time.

The other thing that jumps out is the back: The colours are terrific. Here's a look at the new phones, their main features, and when you'll be able to get your hands on them. It is, however, comparatively less expensive than the iPhone XS ($999). "The smartphone's base model starts at $749, and comes in six surprisingly vibrant colors - white, black, blue, yellow, coral, and the oddly-named "(PRODUCT) RED". Early adopters might want to acquire it for bragging rights, but this year Apple's phone story is mostly about speeding up and optimizing what's already under the hood, rather than rolling out new goodies-so unless you opt for the bigger screen, you probably will soon forget you even upgraded at all. The last two iPhones that had a headphone jack are now discontinued. It's a lot like an X that way. On that back is one 12-megapixel camera. (There's a 7-megapixel, f/2.2 camera on the front.) Like the Google Pixel phones, the XR can do software bokeh or portrait mode; using iOS 12, it can also fool with the extent of the bokeh after the fact, blurring or sharpening the background of the image. Many operators offer customers the ability to change their mobile package if their data needs change, but eSIM would allow them to pick from tariffs from multiple suppliers.

The XR has dual speakers, one on the bottom and one at the top of the phone.

While many of them will undoubtedly plump for the iPhone XS, that high price will mean some consumers will hold off.

"This feature also provides an incentive to upgrade to the new devices, for users who might have just upgraded past year, but have been waiting for Dual-SIM support for their personal and business lines for some time".
